Nicaragua Thanksgiving

Do we have enough boards?

The view from our room

Hello!  Happy Thanksgiving from Nicaragua; where the water is warm, the waves are barreling, and it's offshore 300 days a year.

I'm conducting my first international Adventure Tour and it's been a blast.  The long road to paradise was a little bumpy (literally).  But we decided it was well worth it when we saw the over-head sets and offshore conditions.  A busy day here is 15 guys in the line up...

My compadres; Tony and Barbara have spent some time in the water, but have enjoyed other activities as well.  There is a private golf course, also the beach has lots of sea life and natural vegetation that makes it fun to explore.  Barbara loves the geckos.  Tony likes the beach at night cuz it is the best place to see Nicaragua's cornucopia of stars.  We all love the monkeys.  There were some howler monkeys eating leaves in the tree outside our place.  When they get agitated or excited they howl like the monster on the Matterhorn ride at Disneyland.  It's hard to believe such a hugh bellow can come out of such a small animal!

Here at Colorados the wave is mostly lefts with a few choice rights.  I guess we arrived right on time, cuz it was flat for a week before we got here.  (I just assumed it was perfect head high waves every day.  I mean, it was like that the last time I was here 9 years ago)

So, the schedule (if you want to call it that) is:  wake up, coffee, check waves, surf or have more coffee while waiting for tide then surf, after surfing lunch, check waves, surf, dinner, read book, sleep and dream about tomorrows waves...

The off shore conditions make it good and surfable all day, as long as the tides are right.

I think the swell is building.  Some of the larger sets were double overhead this afternoon.  I hope to get some good shots and good waves.  I promise I will report again soon!!
