Huntington is Walled Up!

Today a new South swell has brought some big ass walls to Huntington Beach! I was gonna paddle out on the north side, but I kept watching guys bombing out on the drop. Or if they made the drop, getting creamed by the closed out section. Man!! It was brutal!

Monday was awesome with some overhead peaks (below). Of course, I had to work, so I only got to surf for an hour. Wah! But, I got a super good left that made my day, so I was happy. And I kept thinking that it would be good again today. Wrong!!
I looked all around, all around for something surfable. I ended up in Newport and it was walled there too!! Ugh.

I shouldn't complain, tho. For the last couple of weeks there has been waves. I have been surfing two or three times a day...

Anyway, I was pretty bummed by a lousy session in Newport when I got a call from some friends inviting me to Tressles! The best idea ever!!!
We made the trip in record time!!

The paddle out was easy and the water warm. But I was having a hard time getting into a wave. It's tough to go from surfing racy closeouts, to the slower moving peelers we found at Churches. It took me a bit to adjust. But, once I got one and rode it to the inside, well, it was fast enough...

It's supposed to get bigger tomorrow! Yay!!

  1. I'm so jealous. South Florida is in it's "Lake Atlantic" period right now! I need to come visit...
